Competitive (Leinster League) team sports include Athletics, Basketball, Hockey and Tennis.
Additional after school Sports include Gaelic Football, Soccer, Rounders, Multi-Sports.
Whole school sport events include One mile challenge and Sports Day.
Participation in at least one after school sport is Compulsory in Years 1-3 in recognition of the importance of sport in helping students develop the personal, social and physical aspects of their personalities.
Sion Hill is committed to promoting sport and health, enhancing physical activity for all students with an aim that all would be fully aware of the benefits for well being and remain committed to life long involvement in some form of physical activity.
Compulsory Sport (1st-3rd year)
Every student from 1st to 3rd year is required to commit to a minimum of one after-school sport.
Hockey, Athletics, Zumba & Basketball are the winter sports on offer. In hockey, we compete across all age groups of the Leinster Schoolgirls Leagues and also in the Dublin South Central Leagues, with great success. Our basketball teams compete in the Dublin Regional leagues.
Our extensive summer programme offers Athletics, Cricket, Gaelic Football, Rounders, Soccer and Tennis. Each year, our athletics team compete across a range of disciplines in the East Leinster Athletic Championships. Our tennis squads also compete in the Leinster Schoolgirls Leagues. At present we have a very well equipped sports hall, an astro-turf pitch & four tennis courts.
