Dunsink Observatory

13 students visited the Dunsink Observatory this morning. They attended the Tyndall lecture by Dr Caitriona Jackman about planetary magnetic fields, they were given a tour of the South Telescope and they had a great time in the Race to Space escape room.     

TY Trip to Delphi

TY students had a great time in Delphi this week. A jam packed schedule of kayaking, bog challenge, archery, bushcraft and zip lining was enjoyed by all. Even in the cold, wet and more challenging obstacles the students showed great teamwork and support for all. Well done everyone! @lecheiletrust1

Minister for Education

We were delighted to welcome Minister for Education @NormaFoleyTD1 to our school today. Student leadership and wellbeing took centre stage and the students really enjoyed chatting with the Minister and her colleagues.

STEM Committee on "Science Live"

Huge congratulations to our 5th and 6th Year STEM committee reps who presented a “Science Live” show with Dr Niamh Shaw as part of Science Week 2022. The students worked hard over the past few months to research and script the show. Well done to all involved. TY students enjoying Tag Rugby earlier today

Athletics

Well done to all the students who took part in the East Leinster Athletics tournament held in Santry earlier this week. Special mentions fro Eva Kelly in 3rd year came 2nd in the Under 16 200m final and Abril Allende in 1st year who came 3rd in the Minor 800m final.

Swap Shop

On the 31st of March, the Environment and Library committees hosted a Swap Shop to promote responsible consumerism. Students donated in books and clothes and left with new items! There was a great turnout and we donated anything that was leftover. We managed to raise €132.50 which will be donated to the Irish Red Cross.

Irish Dancing at Sion Hill

To celebrate St Patrick's Day, some of our very talented Irish Dancers performed for the Dominican Sisters at Sion Hill Convent. A very enjoyable morning for all involved. Sincere thanks to our wonderful Dominican Sisters for their warm welcome and to our amazing dancers for generously sharing their talents.

Bicycle Maintenance Workshop

Our Green schools committee organised a Bicycle Maintenance Workshop for students. Great enthusiasm shown by all involved.

Credit Union Art Competition Winners

Sion Hill art students were very successful in this year's Credit Union Art Competition. Special congratulations to Lena Jeschawitz and Claudia Friel from 1st year who placed 1st and 2nd in the 11-13 category and to Sadhbh Collins (3rd Year) who placed 1st in the 14-17 category.
