Sports Day - 21st May 2021
Tomorrow (21st May) will be our Sports Day. Understandably, it will be a bit different this year. All activities have been arranged within year group pods and are arranged in a COVID compliant manner. There will be a staggered day for different year groups to facilitate this.The schedule for year groups is as follows;
3rd & 4th years: In at 08:45, Finished at 12:00
1st & 6th years: In at 10:30, Finished at 14:00
2nd & 5th years: In at 11:30, Finished at 15:00
This is a non-uniform day. On arrival to school, students should go to where they normally have tutor class to register with their tutor and get the arrangements for the day. In the event that the weather is bad, students will do an indoor activity within their tutor classes. The above timetable will still be adhered to.
Sincere thanks to our sports committee for all the work they have put in to arranging this day.

Transition Year students have had a number of workshops in school over the last few weeks. They include School of Life, Forensic Investigations and Big Bang Drumming. They also had an activity day on 27th April where they learned to juggle, played a series of team building games and took part in a quiz. The team games included making roller coasters for marbles.
Transition Year Update
Transition Year students started the new term with a bodhran making workshop on Monday 12th April. They worked with Michael Vinoles from “Handcrafted Bodhrans” to make & decorate bodhrans. They shaped & sanded the frames, cut the cross bars to fit, tacked on the goat skin and finally decorated the rim and skins. It was a great activity and everyone got to take their bodhran home. There was even a singing session at the end of the day.
Webinar - Racial Justice
A group of Sion Hill students attended the WWGS Annual Student conference webinar last week. The theme was "Our journey towards racial justice". The day was an opportunity for student learning, unlearning, reflection and critical thinking as we move forward collectively and responsibly to create more racially just schools and communities.
